Real meaning of going to a sacred place--to find out some intelligent scholar in spiritual knowledge. They are living there. To make association with them, to take knowledge from them--that is the purpose of going to pilgrimage. Because in pilgrimage, holy places... Just like I, my residence is at Vrndavana. So one should go to such holy places not simply to take bath in the water, but he must be intelligent enough to find out some spiritually advanced man living there and take instruction from him and (be) benefited by that.
"Don't waste time. As much as possible, try to hear Bhāgavatam. yad vaisnavānām priyām, The Srimad-Bhāgavatam is very very dear to the Vaishnavās. In Vrndāvana, you will find, they are always reading Srimad Bhāgavatam. That is their life and soul. Srimad Bhāgavatam is so nice, if you practice anywhere, any condition, simply by reading Srimad Bhāgavatam, you will be happy."- Bhaktivedānta Swami Prabhupāda - Lecture in Geneva on Oct 28 1970
"If you really want to please me, please distribute books, distribute books, distribute books. Both distribution of books and construction of temples must continue side by side in parallel lines." Bhaktivedānta Swami Prabhupāda
"Krishna consciousness is a purificatory process. One may not be purified immediately, but since he is on the right path for purification, one should not criticize him for some faults that he may still have. Just because you have made some mistakes does that mean that you should give up your whole career in Krishna consciousness? What will that accomplish? Simply more rebirth and death. Become serious about spiritual life and try to overlook the minor offenses of others. Keep yourself in the association of devotees, chant at least 16 rounds, read my books, and follow all of the rules and regulations very strictly. - Letter. 14 March 1975"
